SBTC Esports to disband after failing to qualify for 2021 Spring Split playoffs in VCS

SBTC Esports Disbands After Disappointing VCS Spring Split

SBTC Esports has announced its disbandment following a disappointing end to their 2021 VCS Spring Split.

Acquisition of EVOS Esports Slot

The League of Legends team, SBTC Esports, acquired the league slot of EVOS Esports in November 2020. They earned this spot after spending a season in VCS B, which is the Academy league in Vietnam. The team consisted of top laner Zeros, jungler Yijin, mid laner Dia1, AD carry Celebrity, and support Kit.

Narrowly Missing the Playoffs

SBTC missed the 2021 VCS Spring Split playoffs by one series, finishing with a 7-7 record and ending in fifth place during the regular season. Their biggest setback came in the ninth week when they lost to GMedia Luxury, a team that finished last with a 3-11 record. This loss played a significant role in SBTC’s failure to qualify for the playoffs.

Zeros’ Inappropriate Joke and Permanent Ban

After the season concluded, SBTC had to drop one of its star players, Zeros, due to an inappropriate joke he made about COVID-19 during a stream. Zeros, known for his time playing for teams like GAM Esports and Phong Vũ Buffalo, expressed a desire for the COVID-19 situation to worsen so that the VCS representative couldn’t attend this year’s Mid-Season Invitational. As a result, Zeros was permanently banned from the VCS.
