SANDBOX OnFleek Faces Suspension and Fine for Utilizing “Inappropriate Expression” in Report Ticket

SANDBOX Jungler OnFleek Receives Temporary Ban and Fine for Inappropriate Expression

SANDBOX jungler Kim “OnFleek” Jang-gyeom has been temporarily banned for three matches in the 2021 LCK Spring Split and fined nearly $1,000 after making an “inappropriate expression” during a report ticket. Riot Games announced the punishment today. OnFleek broke the discrimination and disparaging provision (9.2.4) that all players are expected to follow. On November 6, while reporting a player in solo queue, he made a racist remark towards a Chinese player, saying, “The only good Chinese is a dead Chinese.”

SANDBOX Takes Disciplinary Action

In addition to Riot’s punishment, SANDBOX has also taken disciplinary action against OnFleek. The organization stated that he will face an additional fine of around $2,690 and will have to complete 30 hours of community service.

Background on SANDBOX and OnFleek

OnFleek, along with the rest of SANDBOX, finished seventh in the 2020 LCK Summer Split after re-qualifying for the league in April’s promotion tournament. This is the second time SANDBOX has been promoted to the LCK, with the first being in the 2019 LCK Spring Split. OnFleek has played a crucial role in SANDBOX’s success in the LCK.

Impact of Temporary Suspension

The temporary ban will prevent OnFleek from playing in the first few matches of the 2021 LCK Spring Split. The league is scheduled to begin next year, with the 10 partnered teams announced on November 2.
