Samsung Galaxy shines at IEM Gyeonggi

Samsung Galaxy Dominates in IEM Gyeonggi

On the first day of the IEM Gyeonggi, favorites Samsung Galaxy showed their dominance by emerging from their group in style.

The League World Championship runners-up easily defeated Vega Squadron and Immortals to secure the top spot in their group and advance to Friday’s semifinals.

Samsung Galaxy has made no changes to their roster since reaching the World Championship final two months ago, and it appears they are set to end the year with another impressive performance.

On the other hand, Immortals, who are playing with a new roster, proved to be no match for Samsung. In the first game, Immortals only managed to secure seven kills before the game was over within 30 minutes. Although Immortals showed some fight in the second game, a costly mistake in an early team fight resulted in losing momentum and their first tower. Immortals couldn’t recover from this setback and failed to take a single tower as the series slipped away.

In the lower bracket final, Immortals had another chance to advance to the semifinals, facing off against Taiwan’s J Team. Despite losing one game, the American side secured a 2-1 victory and will play again on Saturday.

This tournament provided an opportunity to see the new Immortals roster in action, with the addition of Kim “Olleh” Joo-sung to the lineup. Olleh joins recent signings Lee “Flame” Ho-jong, Joshua “Dardoch” Hatnett, and Cody Sun, with Eugene “Pobelter” Park being the only player retained from the previous roster.
