Saigon Buffalo’s Mid Laner and Head Coach Secure Timely Visas for Worlds 2022

Saigon Buffalo Mid Laner and Coach Receive Visas for League of Legends World Championship

Saigon Buffalo’s mid laner, Bùi “Froggy” Văn Minh Hải, and head coach, Nguyễn “Ren” Văn Trọng, have successfully obtained their visas just in time for the team’s debut at the League of Legends World Championship.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, viewers have not seen Vietnam on the Worlds stage since 2019. The region was unable to participate in Worlds in 2020 and 2021. Initially, visa issues with Saigon Buffalo caused concerns that the Vietnam Championship Series (VCS) would not have a complete roster at Worlds.

Fortunately, those worries have been put to rest. Saigon Buffalo can now confidently compete in Worlds 2022 with their full intended lineup, as both Froggy and Ren have had their visas granted.

“Froggy just completed a successful interview at the US consulate this morning and will be granted a visa to attend the Worlds,” Saigon Buffalo announced on Twitter. “Thank you Riot Games for your support.”

During MSI 2022, Saigon Buffalo represented the VCS while GAM Esports chose to compete in the Southeast Asian Games. The team reached the Rumble Stage at MSI, finishing in sixth place overall.

Saigon Buffalo Prepares for Worlds 2022

With the recent news of Froggy and Ren’s accepted visas, Saigon Buffalo now has the entire team’s visas sorted as they head to Mexico City for Worlds 2022.

The team aims to make a strong showing on the international stage once again, starting their Worlds 2022 journey in the Play-In Stage. Saigon Buffalo has been placed in Group B and will play their first game on September 29 against Turkey’s Istanbul Wildcats. They strive to qualify for the Worlds 2022 Group Stage as one of the top four teams from the Play-In Stage.
