Ryu parts ways with H2K amidst eventful off-season

The Top European Team of 2016 League of Legends World Championship Will No Longer Have One of Its Key Players

The most successful European team at the 2016 League of Legends World Championship, H2K, is bidding farewell to one of its star players.

Yoo “Ryu” Sang-ook, who played as the mid laner for H2K since January 2015, will not be representing the team in the upcoming season of the European League Championship Series.

In 2016, Ryu and H2K had their best year together, finishing in the top four in both the Spring and Summer Splits. They also reached the semifinals of the 2016 League World Championship.

Ryu’s departure comes roughly a month after the team’s renowned AD carry, Konstantinos “FORG1VEN” Tzortziou, announced that he would be exploring offers from teams outside of Europe. With both these highly talented players leaving the squad, finding suitable replacements will be a challenge for H2K.

H2K will reveal details about its new roster for the 2017 League Championship Series later today, sparking speculation among fans about which players will join the team.

According to an ESPN report, Ryu will be replaced by former H2K mid laner Fabian “Febiven” Diepstraten. Febiven has had great success competing with Fnatic over the past two years. As for Ryu, it is unclear where he will be heading next.
