ROX eliminates CLG from Worlds 2016

This is the recap of the match between North America’s Counter Logic Gaming (CLG) and LCK’s ROX Tigers for the last spot in the quarterfinals of Group A.

ROX vs CLG: A Close Battle for Quarterfinals

Here is a breakdown of the matchup:

Top Lane: Smeb-Gnar vs Darshan-Poppy

Jungle: Peanut-Elise vs Xmithie-Olaf
Mid Lane: Kuro-Viktor vs Huhi-Malzahar
ADC: PraY-Jhin vs Stixxay-Caitlyn
Support: GorillA-Alistar vs Aphromoo-Bard
Bans: Aurelion Sol/Vladimir/Syndra vs Rumble/Kennen/Nidalee

Early Game: ROX Start Off Strong

Knowing their strength in the early game, ROX’s GorillA made a quick first blood by stunning Stixxay. CLG fought back and found Peanut at his red buff for two kills, but they were always one step behind.

Mid Game: Alistar Making Plays

GorillA’s constant roaming and great crowd control forced CLG to play defensively. However, CLG managed to secure kills during ROX’s sieges, keeping the gold difference small. They also took the lead in dragons.

Late Game: A Messy Battle

In the later parts of the game, CLG struggled to find opportunities to come back. ROX denied them from making any significant plays, resulting in a mix of small skirmishes on the map.

With this victory, ROX advanced to the quarterfinals with a 4-2 record, while CLG was eliminated from the tournament. ROX will now face ANX for the first seed from Group A.
