RNG’s Gala sets new MSI kill record in victory against PSG Talon

Royal Never Give Up’s Gala Sets New Kill Record at MSI 2021

In the semifinal round of the 2021 League of Legends Mid-Season Invitational, Royal Never Give Up’s AD carry Gala achieved a remarkable feat. During RNG’s 3-1 victory over PSG Talon, Gala broke the record for the most kills at a single MSI.

Before the series began, Gala only needed three kills to surpass Uzi’s record of 104 kills, which was set during RNG’s 2018 run to the MSI championship. However, Gala exceeded expectations by attaining 28 kills by the end of the series, thus shattering Uzi’s previous record. In comparison, Uzi took 18 games to secure 104 kills at MSI 2018, while Gala accomplished the feat in just 17 games at this year’s tournament according to League stats site, Oracle’s Elixir.

On the other side of RNG’s victory, PSG Talon’s AD carry, Doggo, also managed to surpass Uzi’s kill record, finishing the tournament with 109 kills. Other players such as MAD Lions’ Carzzy and DWG KIA’s Ghost are in contention to break the record as well, with games still remaining to be played.

MSI Final Holds Promise for Gala’s Record-Breaking Run

Gala will have the opportunity to further enhance his record as RNG advances to the MSI final on May 23. If they emerge victorious, RNG will secure their second MSI title in franchise history, making them only the second franchise, alongside SK Telecom T1 of Korea, to win the Mid-Season Invitational more than once.

The final match will see RNG face the winner of the semifinal series between DWG KIA and MAD Lions.
