RNG chooses Evil Geniuses, G2 to confront T1 in MSI knockout stage

League of Legends Mid-Season Invitational Knockout Stage Matchups Revealed

The matchups for the League of Legends Mid-Season Invitational knockout stage have been determined. Royal Never Give Up (RNG) has chosen to face Evil Geniuses (EG) in the semifinals, while T1 and G2 Esports will square off against each other in the other semifinal match.

RNG’s Decision Based on Rulebook

RNG, the first-place finisher in the rumble stage, had the privilege of selecting their opponent in the knockout stage. According to the Mid-Season Invitational rulebook, they also had the authority to choose the date of their first knockout stage match. Since RNG finished at the top of the rumble stage standings, they had the option to pick between G2 and EG as potential opponents for the semifinals.

Schedule and Semifinal Matches

RNG will face EG in the first semifinal match on Friday, May 27. The second semifinal match between T1 and G2 will take place on Saturday, May 28. The winners of these matches will advance to the final, scheduled for Sunday, May 29, where the champion of MSI 2022 will be determined.

Strong Performances by RNG

RNG dominated their games against EG in the rumble stage, winning both matches convincingly. They secured 48 kills compared to EG’s 15 and boasted an average gold difference of 13,500. Although RNG lost individual games to T1 and G2, they finished the rumble stage with an impressive 8-2 record.

T1 and G2’s clash on Saturday, May 28 will determine who will face the winner of the RNG vs. EG match. The highly anticipated final will take place on Sunday, May 29.
