Riot’s Animated Series “Arcane” Delayed to 2021 Due to COVID-19 Outbreak

Arcane, Riot’s Animated Series Based on League of Legends, Postponed to 2021 Due to COVID-19

Riot recently announced that their highly anticipated animated series, Arcane, inspired by League of Legends, will be delayed until next year due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

The decision to postpone the release was made in consideration of the challenges faced by the development team, who have been working from home. Originally set for a 2020 release, the series will now premiere in 2021.

Riot’s vice president of creative development and IP, Greg “Ghostcrawler” Street, expressed his disappointment in the delay, citing the need to prioritize the safety and well-being of the teams and partners involved in the project.

Ghostcrawler also discussed the difficulties of collaborating remotely and the impact it has on the creative process. Not being able to interact with colleagues in person and the technical challenges of producing a high-quality animated series from home have contributed to the delay.

The announcement trailer for Arcane, released in October 2019, provided a glimpse into the story that explores the origins of two iconic League of Legends champions and the conflict that arises between them. Many fans speculate that the series will follow the characters Vi and Jinx in the city of Zaun.

As of now, Riot has not provided a specific release date for Arcane.
