Riot Reveals Mid-Season Update Details for Tanks, Starting with Sejuani
Riot Games has shared more details about the upcoming mid-season update for tanks on their official forums. In addition to that, Riot Solcrushed has discussed the changes that will be made to the champion Sejuani in this update.
Main Goals for the Tank Update
Riot’s primary objectives for the tank update are as follows:
- Adding More Skill Expression: The update will introduce more opportunities for skilled gameplay for tanks and their opponents. Players who master these skills will be rewarded.
- Reducing Reliable Damage: Tanks will have less damage output and their focus will be on defense and crowd control. This will distinguish them from offensive champions.
- Increasing Uniqueness: Tanks, especially Vanguards, will be made more distinct and unique through various changes that go beyond their ability to initiate teamfights effectively.
Changes Planned for Sejuani
- Tapping into the Cavalier/Warleader Fantasy: Riot wants to enhance the feeling of Sejuani actively leading and inspiring her allies. Her kit will also be modified to reflect the theme of a swift and confident cavalier who charges into battle against her foes.
- Creating a More Engaging Base Combat Pattern: The aim is to make Sejuani’s base pattern more interesting and rewarding for players, while also giving opponents opportunities to strategize against her. Her spells will be reworked to ensure her damage doesn’t solely rely on being close to her enemies. As a result, her ultimate ability may be adjusted to balance the overall power of her kit.
- Developing a Clear and Unique Defensive Profile: As reliable damage output is reduced, Sejuani’s defensive mechanics will be emphasized. Her passive ability will undergo changes to make her playstyle more distinct and enjoyable.
- Enabling Direct Synergy with Specific Allies: Sejuani will have ways to boost the effectiveness of certain allies. Rather than benefiting all her teammates equally, she will have abilities that enhance the performance of specific allies, making her feel like a true leader in battle.
