Riot Unveils New Exclusive North American Matchmaking System for High-Elo Players: Champions Queue, Set to Launch on Feb. 7

Riot Games Announces Launch of Champions Queue for High-Level League of Legends Players

Riot Games recently announced that Champions Queue, an exclusive version of solo queue for high-level League of Legends players, will be launching on Feb. 7. This new matchmaking experience will be available to top North American players and will provide automatic lobby creation, player invites, comms channels, and match result reporting through an invite-only Discord server. Champions Queue will run on a Tournament Realm that is separate from the live patch. This exciting update is set to revolutionize the competitive experience for high-level players.

Exclusive Access for Top North American League Players

Champions Queue will only be accessible to top North American League players via a West Coast server. This includes players from the LCS, the LCS Academy, the Liga Latinoamérica (LLA), and the top 16 North American amateur teams. Additionally, a select group of recent LCS alumni will also have the opportunity to compete in Champions Queue. Riot Games aims to make this exclusive experience available to even more high-level players in the future by implementing an application process for players ranked in the Master tier and above.

Available During Designated Hours

Champions Queue will only be open for players to compete during specific hours of the day. The availability of the queue will be dictated by teams’ scrimmage matches. Players will have access to Champions Queue between 6pm and 1am each day, with extended hours from 10am to 1am on Mondays. This schedule ensures that players can fully enjoy the competitive experience while maintaining a healthy work-life balance.

Exciting Seasons and Prize Pool

The Champions Queue will feature two separate seasons: one in spring and one in summer. Each season will be divided into three splits lasting approximately one month. Riot Games has allocated a generous $400,000 prize pool that will be spread out over the seasonal format. This substantial prize pool adds even more excitement and incentive for high-level players to participate in this exclusive queue.

League fans are eagerly anticipating the launch of Champions Queue, which is set to begin on Feb. 7. They can keep track of their favorite players’ progress and stay updated on all the action by visiting the Champions Queue hub on Lolesports.com.
