League of Legends Teases New Victorious Skin for 2020 Ranked Season
The 2020 League of Legends ranked season is coming to a close, and fans are eagerly speculating about the game’s next Victorious skin. Today, the official League of Legends Taiwan Facebook page released two teaser images, giving players a glimpse of what’s to come.
The first image showcases a gem-encrusted chestplate with a blue and gold trim, aligning with the theme of the Victorious skin line. However, the champion wearing this armor remains a mystery.
In a more straightforward second image, a silhouetted figure can be seen holding a blue and gold pistol. Many players believe this hints at the champion Lucian, one of the game’s pistol users.
Predicting the Champion: Lucian vs. Jhin
While four champions in the game use pistols, Gangplank and Kled can be ruled out based on their body type and armor design. This leaves Lucian and Jhin as the most likely contenders.
When looking at their presence in professional play, Lucian emerges as the front-runner. He appeared in 26% of all professional champ selects this season, according to statistics from gol.gg, a reliable League of Legends website. In contrast, Jhin only had a pick/ban rate of 6% across major professional leagues in 2020.
A Surprising Choice?
It may seem odd that Riot would choose Lucian as the representative of the 2020 season when champions like Sett and Aphelios dominated the professional scene. However, considering Lucian’s historical significance and his consistent impact on the game since his release, a Victorious skin for him is still intriguing.
Lucian recently celebrated his seventh anniversary, and his presence in the meta has been felt in every season. Whether as a dominant force or a popular pick, Lucian has remained a staple in League of Legends history. Therefore, it’s fitting to see him honored with a Victorious skin at the end of 2020.
