Riot Unleashes Major Nerfs in Patch 9.2

Riot Announces Champion Nerfs and Item Changes in Patch 9.2

Riot Games is making adjustments to several champions and items in the upcoming Patch 9.2. After a relatively quiet preseason, some champions have become overpowered and need to be brought back in line.

The champions that Riot is focusing on include Aatrox, Brand, Cassiopeia, Galio, Irelia, Jax, Kassadin, Rakan, Tahm Kench, Urgot, and Zyra.

Additionally, there will be nerfs to several runes and items, such as Oblivion Orb, Morellonomicon, Absolute Focus rune, AD/AP damage rune stat, and Ignite.

Many of these champions, including Aatrox, Galio, Tahm Kench, and Urgot, have been dominant in professional play since last summer. To address this, they will receive power nerfs to bring them back into balance.

Urgot will see higher ability costs at low levels, and Tahm Kench will have modifications to prevent using his ultimate to rescue teammates in combat. This change mainly affects professional supports and should have minimal impact on solo queue players.

There has been a lot of player complaints about Jax, so he will receive slight reductions in base damage and damage on his leap ability.

Oblivion Orb and Morellonomicon will be adjusted to make them more niche items instead of universally used by all mages. This includes reducing their AP value, forcing mages to choose between their unique effects.

Overall, this patch addresses champions that have been dominating both professional play and solo queue. However, Sejuani appears to be excluded from any changes in this patch despite community concerns.

The Patch 9.2 update is scheduled to release on Jan. 24.
