League of Legends ADC Items Getting a Major Overhaul in Patch 14.10
League of Legends’ in-game item shop underwent significant changes at the beginning of the 2024 ranked season, notably with the removal of Mythic items. However, in the upcoming Patch 14.10, more changes are on the horizon, focusing primarily on one position on Summoner’s Rift.
Unsatisfied ADC Players Demand Attention
While the majority of players seemed content with the changes implemented in the current season, a specific subset of the League community, the ADC players, were left feeling unsatisfied. According to Riot’s internal surveys, ADC players were the most dissatisfied with the 2024 item adjustments. In response, Riot plans to address ADC items in Patch 14.10, particularly regarding power spikes.
Riot’s Vision for ADC Items
In a recent dev update, Riot posed a question to players, reminiscing about a time when ADC items were less overpowering and when item progression felt more balanced. Riot aims to return to this equilibrium where each item purchase holds significance and power spikes are more calculated.
Enhancing Gameplay for ADCs
To foster more balanced power spikes and provide ADC players with greater build flexibility, Riot plans to implement two significant changes. Firstly, Legendary critical strike items will see an increase in their crit bonus from 20 percent to 25 percent. Secondly, items will now only carry two scaling stats, down from three.
These alterations aim to offer ADC players more strategic choices in their item builds, making power spikes more impactful throughout a match. While these intentions were initially present in the 2024 preseason ADC item rework, they will be further expanded upon in Patch 14.10.
In addition to adjusting existing items, Riot will remove two items from the game: Kircheis Shard and Stormrazor. Furthermore, the Energized passive effect will now exclusively belong to Legendary items, such as Voltaic Cyclosword and Rapid Firecannon, which will retain their effects but undergo changes in their build paths.
With these changes, Riot aims to provide all players, regardless of their chosen ADC champion, with a broader range of options throughout a game. The developers will closely monitor player feedback during the Patch 14.10 PBE cycle and its subsequent deployment on live servers.
League Patch 14.10 is scheduled to be launched on May 15, according to Riot’s official patch schedule.
