Riot Targets Bot Lane with Balancing Adjustments in Patch 8.24b—Highlights Include Sivir, Xayah, and Runes

The Upcoming Balance Changes in League of Legends Patch 8.24b

The next update for League of Legends, Patch 8.24b, will focus solely on balance changes rather than introducing new features, champions, or skins. Recently, the Public Beta Environment (PBE) revealed that a significant portion of these balance changes will be targeted at the bot lane.

Changes to Marksman Champions

The upcoming update will bring big changes to several marksman champions including Xayah, Ashe, and Sivir. Additionally, adjustments will be made to Hail of Blades, a rune that hasn’t been performing as expected since its release in Patch 8.11 earlier this year. Currently, Hail of Blades scales up with level, starting with lower attack speed at the beginning of the game and reaching its peak later on. Riot believes that this scaling is the core issue with the rune, as champions benefit less from attack speed in the early stages of the game. If the change passes testing, Hail of Blades will no longer scale and will offer a constant 110 percent attack speed boost throughout the entire game.

The most significant changes will be applied to Sivir. Her Q, W, and R abilities will all be modified, resulting in a buff to her kit. The passive attack speed bonus of her R will change from a scaling 30 to 60 percent to a flat 45 percent. Her W will scale higher with her Attack Damage (AD). Her Q will now deal less damage to subsequent non-champion targets, allowing her to deal more damage to multiple champions during teamfights in the late game.

Xayah’s change is particularly interesting because it neither provides a flat buff nor a nerf. The AD scaling and base damage of her E ability, Bladecaller, will increase significantly, but the ability will no longer scale with crit chance. This change reduces her dependence on crit and enhances her overall effectiveness, potentially leading to new build options for Xayah.

Ashe will receive the smallest change in this update. If she reveals an unseen enemy with her Hawkshot and that enemy is subsequently killed by Ashe’s allies, Ashe will now receive an assist. Although this change may seem minor, it can be considered a buff for Ashe.

Arrival of Patch 8.24b

All these balance changes are expected to arrive with Patch 8.24b next week.
