Riot swiftly shuts down AP Irelia following her update release on the PBE.

Irelia’s AP Scalings on PBE Revealed: Is She Viable as an AP Champion?

Irelia’s update on the PBE has raised some eyebrows among player-testers. It turns out that her AP scalings are surprisingly high, to the point where she may actually work well with a full AP build.

However, Riot quickly realized the issue and made adjustments to prevent Irelia from becoming too overpowered. All of her abilities with strong AP scalings were nerfed accordingly.

One of her abilities, Flawless Duet, had an incredibly high 90% AP scaling. This ability allowed her to throw blades and stun/damage enemies caught in between. It was an effective ranged harasser and zoning tool. To balance things out, Riot reduced its AP scaling to 80%.

Another ability, Defiant Dance, also received AP nerfs. While it initially scaled with 50% of her AP without charging, the maximum scaling was reduced to 90% and the minimum scaling to 45%. Although these nerfs may not be significant, they should help bring Irelia back to a more balanced state.

Despite the adjustments, Irelia’s versatility remains intact. She can still be built as a bruiser, full tank, or attack speed carry. With these nerfs, there’s even potential for her to be useful as an AP champion. Additionally, her passive ability enhances her basic attacks with magic damage, further supporting this unconventional build.

Keep in mind that these changes are currently on the PBE and Irelia is expected to hit live servers in two weeks, whether you choose to play her as an AP champion or not.
