Riot seeks balance between Perfect Timing and Stopwatch on League’s PBE

Changes Coming to Perfect Timing and Stopwatch in the Next League of Legends Patch

Riot Games is implementing some changes to Perfect Timing and Stopwatch in the upcoming League of Legends patch. These updates aim to level up the gameplay experience and introduce a higher risk factor for players. The adjustments will also impact the cost and effectiveness of certain in-game items such as Gargoyle Stoneplate, Guardian Angel, and Zhonya’s Hourglass.

Increase in Stopwatch Cost

One of the notable changes is the increase in the cost of Stopwatch. Previously priced at 600 gold, the Stopwatch will now set players back by 650 gold. This adjustment aims to reduce its impact during the early stages of the game, making it a riskier option for players. As a result, the price of associated items such as Gargoyle Stoneplate, Guardian Angel, and Zhonya’s Hourglass will also rise by 50 gold.

Perfect Timing and Its New Timer

An important focus of Patch 10.4 is the Perfect Timing rune. Currently, players who select this rune start the game with a Commencing Stopwatch, which transforms after a specific amount of time. The rune has been popular due to its potential to provide a free 600 gold item, particularly advantageous during tower dives and in both solo queue and pro play.

In Patch 10.4, the Perfect Timing Stopwatch timer will be increased from 10 to 14 minutes. This change has a significant impact on faster-paced games. However, to counterbalance this adjustment, players will now experience a new effect. Each takedown achieved by the player will reduce the Stopwatch timer by 120 seconds. Thus, with just two takedowns, the timer can revert to 10 minutes.

Additional Updates and Implications

It’s worth noting that Perfect Timing will no longer reduce the cooldown of Gargoyle Stoneplate, Guardian Angel, and Zhonya’s Hourglass. These changes add an interesting dynamic to the game. In laning phases that heavily involve ganking, these updates serve as a clear buff to the rune. However, in unfavorable matchups, players may find the rune to be less effective or even wasted. Overall, these adjustments will transform Perfect Timing and Stopwatch into a high-risk, high-reward option for League of Legends players.
