Riot reveals upcoming VFX and ability changes for Rammus in League of Legends PBE release

League of Legends’ Rammus Receives Visual Updates and Skin Changes

Riot Games has announced that League of Legends’ champion Rammus will be receiving some exciting updates to his abilities and visuals. The changes, including VFX updates, will be hitting the PBE (Public Beta Environment) tomorrow and are expected to go live in the game by the end of Spring.

Visual Updates to Rammus’ Abilities

In a teaser video, Riot Sirhaian, senior VFX artist at Riot Games, showcased the major visual changes coming to Rammus’ abilities. These updates aim to bring Rammus up to current visual standards. For example, his Q ability, Powerball, will now show clear wheel marks and dirt flying off his shell, indicating his speed.

Rammus’ W ability, Defensive Ball Curl, has also been updated to include spikes at the top, matching his spiky-shelled dynamic. Additionally, his E ability, Frenzying Taunt, now has a visual indicator showing the direction that enemies are forced to face. This indicator enhances clarity for both allies and enemies.

Rammus’ ultimate ability, Soaring Slam, has him leaping into the air and slamming down on the target location. It deals damage and slows enemies, with extra damage dealt to those hit at the center based on the distance Rammus leaped. Players can combo his Q ability with his ultimate to knock up enemies in the center.

After using Soaring Slam, aftershocks will be formed in the area, dealing additional damage and slowing opponents for a few seconds.

Skin Updates for Rammus

Rammus’ skins will also be receiving visual updates to modernize them. For example, Ninja Rammus and Molten Rammus will have added effects that align with their themes. King Rammus’ W ability will be topped with a crown, adding a royal touch.

These updates to Rammus’ abilities and skins will be available for testing on League of Legends’ PBE. It’s important to note that these changes are not final and may be adjusted before their release on live servers.
