Riot reveals upcoming adjustments to League jungle creatures’ damage, health, and gold rewards in Patch 11.10 preview

Jungle Changes Coming to League of Legends in Patch 11.10

Mark “Scruffy” Yetter, the gameplay design director of League of Legends, recently discussed upcoming changes for the jungle role. The main goal is to make the position more accessible, and the Patch 11.10 preview provides a detailed look at the adjustments that will be implemented next week.

Scruffy had previously hinted at some of these changes, including an increase in camp respawn timers by 15 seconds, offering more comeback XP per level from large monsters, and improving survivability through Smite healing adjustments. However, today’s patch preview reveals additional information.

One significant change is the adjustment to Smite’s damage. The base damage will change from 390 to 450, and after completing the Smite quest, it will increase to 900. Additionally, Smite will now break Scuttle Crab’s shield before applying damage.

The preview also introduces AD, health, and gold changes for the jungle camps. For example, the Blue Sentinel’s AD will decrease from 82 to 78, while its health will increase slightly to balance the clear speed with Smite. Other camps like Red Brambleback, Gromp, Murkwolves, Raptors, and Krugs will have their AD reduced to make jungle clears easier. Furthermore, Red Brambleback and Rift Scuttler’s health will increase, and certain camps will offer more gold.

These changes are part of Riot’s effort to make the jungle role more welcoming to newcomers. The complexity of the position often discourages beginners and lower-ranked players. By widening the champion pool and making clears easier, Riot aims to improve accessibility without allowing experts to exploit these adjustments.

Please note that these changes are tentative and subject to further adjustments. If they are approved, they will likely be implemented in Patch 11.10 on Wednesday, May 12th.
