Riot reveals Q nerfs for Voli, Karthus, Kha’Zix, and Syndra in League Patch 10.16 preview

League of Legends Patch 10.16: Changes Coming to Pro Meta

The lead gameplay designer of League of Legends, Mark “Scruffy” Yetter, has provided a preview of the specific changes expected in Patch 10.16. These changes aim to prepare the pro meta for the playoffs.

Nerfs for Volibear, Karthus, Kha’Zix, and Syndra

In order to diversify the meta without destroying it, Volibear, Karthus, Kha’Zix, and Syndra will receive nerfs to their Q abilities.

Mark Yetter tweeted, “We have a good meta, so a lot of small changes is our approach to diversify without destroying it.”

Volibear’s Thundering Smash (Q) will have its movement speed heavily reduced, going from 15-35% to 10-26%. This change will primarily affect his gank potential and initiation.

Karthus’ Lay Waste (Q) damage was significantly increased in Patch 10.14. However, Riot is reverting the AP ratio back from 35 to 30%. The base damage will remain the same.

Kha’Zix will see a nerf to his isolated Q bonus damage, decreasing it from 120% to 110%.

Syndra’s late game Q damage will be slightly reduced, going from 70-230 to 70-210.

Karma and Ashe will also have tweaks to their Q abilities, while Nocturne mid, Sett, Bard, and Nautilus are on the nerf list as well.

Note: Scruffy’s Patch 10.16 preview is subject to change before it goes live.
