League of Legends, a popular esports game, is no stranger to bugs. Developers at Riot Games have to constantly patch and fix these bugs. In the latest patch, Patch 12.21, an important bug that cost G2 Esports a game at Worlds 2022 has finally been fixed.

Be gamble aware

The bug in question is related to a character called Darius and his ability called Noxian Guillotine. This ability allows Darius to execute enemies based on a certain condition. In a match between G2 and JD Gaming, Darius used Noxian Guillotine to eliminate an opponent. However, even though the opponent died mid-animation, the ability still went on cooldown and didn’t reset properly. This resulted in G2 losing the teamfight and ultimately the game.

With Patch 12.21, Riot has finally addressed this bug. The bugfix ensures that Darius’ ability will properly reset its cooldown even if the target dies just before taking damage.

The Darius mains community has been aware of this bug for years. Since it went unfixed for so long, some players even thought it was an intentional feature. However, with this bugfix, it is expected that Darius’ win rate might increase as it becomes a quality-of-life improvement for all Darius players.
