Riot Provides Update on Highly-Anticipated Revamp for League’s Skarner

League of Legends’ Skarner to Receive Long-Awaited Visual and Gameplay Update

The League of Legends development team has provided an update on the highly anticipated visual and gameplay update (VGU) for Skarner. In a recent developer update video, Riot’s champion product manager, Lexi Gao, announced that the Skarner VGU team has begun exploring ways to enhance his scorpion fantasy. They are leaving no stone unturned to find exciting themes, kits, and stories.

Skarner’s rework has been in the works for nearly a year. Last February, Skarner emerged victorious in a fan vote against other champions in need of a rework, including Shyvana, Kog’Maw, Tryndamere, and Nocturne. This win secured Skarner a full VGU.

The development team previously attempted to boost Skarner’s presence with mini-updates. However, they realized that only a full-blown rework would truly bring Skarner into the forefront of both solo queue and professional play.

Riot’s commitment to reworks continues in 2023, with Jax, Ahri, and Aurelion Sol also set to receive updates. Players can expect at least a dozen champions to undergo reworks and mid-scope updates this season. Jax’s mid-scope update will be released tomorrow, January 10, alongside the launch of the 2023 ranked season.

While a release date for Skarner’s complete rework has not been confirmed, fans can anticipate its launch sometime this year. Riot’s early updates on the progress show their dedication to delivering a revamped Skarner experience.
