Riot plans Wukong rework for League Patch 10.6

League of Legends: Wukong Rework Coming Soon

Fans of League of Legends who have been eagerly waiting for the Wukong rework can now rejoice. Senior champion designer August Browning has announced a target patch for the rework—Patch 10.6.

Browning shared the goals and timeline for Wukong’s new ability kit. Although he didn’t provide details about the specific changes, he did give an estimated release date for the rework—Patch 10.6.

In a recent tweet, Browning mentioned that the scope of the Wukong changes will be significantly reduced. They will be working with existing assets, similar to what was done for the champion Shaco. Browning also acknowledged the great work done by Riot Lutzburg and will be picking up where they left off.

This expedited process means that there will be no updates to the champion’s visuals or sound. However, Riot hopes that the changes will make Wukong more versatile and enhance his potential for outplay, moving away from a purely burst-oriented playstyle.

Lead gameplay designer Mark “Scruffy” Yetter explained that Riot’s focus will be on strengthening Wukong’s top and jungle roles, while reducing his power in mid lane. Browning confirmed these intentions, stating that Wukong’s lethality build will likely become less effective.

Testing and Release

Browning expects the Wukong rework to be available for testing on the PBE on Feb. 18 or 19. If the changes are successful, players can expect to see the new-and-improved Wukong on the live servers in Patch 10.5.

Stay tuned for more updates on the Wukong rework!
