Upcoming Changes in League of Legends Patch 8.4
League of Legends Patch 8.3 is just around the corner, but Riot Games is already gearing up for Patch 8.4. In this upcoming patch, significant changes will be made to the jungle, with a focus on improving the weaker champions and items, as stated in Riot’s official game forum post yesterday.
The jungle role has already benefited from the new rune system introduced in the preseason, making several previously underpowered junglers viable again, including Udyr and Kindred. However, there are still a few champions, such as Fiddlesticks and Volibear, who remain too weak even with the new runes. That’s why Riot plans to make adjustments to these champions in Patch 8.4.
Volibear will receive a significant change in this patch, possibly involving a mechanical adjustment to his knock-up ability and a secondary buff to his movement speed boost. On the other hand, Fiddlesticks’ changes will be more straightforward, with a direct buff to damage, cooldowns, or crowd control.
Evelynn, the third jungler mentioned in Riot’s post, has been strong for quite some time, but was hit too hard with nerfs in Patch 8.2. Riot acknowledges this and aims to give her power back in a “straightforward way,” likely through a damage buff to one of her primary abilities or base stats.
In addition to the champion updates, Patch 8.4 will also address the Hunter’s Talisman item. Currently, Riot notes that most junglers are opting for Hunter’s Machete over the optimal choice of Hunter’s Talisman. To improve the item’s viability, the balance team will adjust its stats and potentially add more mana regeneration to its passive.
All of these changes, along with Patch 8.4, are expected to be available for testing on the PBE (Public Beta Environment) next week. The official release of Patch 8.4 is anticipated to be in less than three weeks.
