Riot plans 4-hour maintenance for North America’s League and Teamfight Tactics servers in September

If you enjoy playing League of Legends or Teamfight Tactics during late nights and early mornings, you will need to take a mandatory gameplay break later this week.

Riot Games has informed all North American players of League and Teamfight Tactics that the servers will be down for maintenance between 2am CT to 6am CT on Thursday, Sept. 1. This maintenance is necessary as the developers continue their global migration efforts to the cloud.

Earlier this year, Riot made efforts to improve the server reliability for players, but implementing these changes will require some time. This is not the first time the team has scheduled extended maintenance recently.

Two weeks ago, Riot announced a 12-hour maintenance for the NA servers, although the reason was not specified. This extended downtime is uncommon for League, as maintenance typically only lasts for a few hours with only ranked servers being disabled temporarily.

It is unclear if this upcoming maintenance period is related to the 12-hour one, but at least it will not last half a day. The release of League‘s Patch 12.17 is also scheduled for next week on Thursday, Sept. 8, so the developers need to ensure the stability of the servers before the new changes go live.
