Riot outlines anticipated performance for Yuumi, commits to assessing champion’s power after launch

New League of Legends Champion Yuumi Detailed by Riot Games

The League of Legends community eagerly awaits the release of each new champion, wondering if they will become a permaban in games. In a recent blog post, design director Andrei “Meddler” van Roon shared some insights into Riot Games’ expectations for the latest champion, Yuumi.

Yuumi is a support character who can attach herself to friendly champions and cast spells from their location. While attached, Yuumi is untargetable, and she shares attack damage and ability power with her anchor.

Yuumi’s Abilities

Yuumi’s W ability, called “You and Me!”, allows her to switch her anchor without any cooldown. If she activates the ability without a target, she detaches from her ally and dashes in the target direction.

According to Meddler, Yuumi is expected to be strong against champions who heavily rely on poke damage, using her mobility to dodge their attacks. However, her lack of peel makes her susceptible to bruisers and fighters who prefer close combat.

Upcoming Adjustments

Riot plans to closely monitor Yuumi’s performance after release and make adjustments as necessary. They will specifically focus on fine-tuning the timings of her kit, such as the travel and turning speed of her Q’s missile and the attach speed of her W ability.

Yuumi’s Reveal

Yuumi was accidentally revealed by streamer and YouTuber Nasteey, who quickly removed a champion guide video from his YouTube channel. However, fans managed to capture screenshots of Yuumi’s model and abilities. Riot later released an official trailer introducing the Magical Cat and her book of portals.

Yuumi is currently being tested on the League of Legends Public Beta Environment and will be released on the live servers in a future patch.
