Riot Launches Survey to Decide on League of Legends Champion Update for 2023

Riot Games Allows Players to Vote for Next League of Legends Champion Update

Riot Games is giving players the opportunity to vote for the next champion in League of Legends to receive a visual and gameplay update (VGU).

League fans and players will have the chance to decide which of the nominated champions will be updated. The poll will open on Jan. 7 and close on Jan. 19, allowing players 12 days to express their choice.

Eligible Champions for Visual and Gameplay Update

The champions eligible for a VGU this year are Shyvana, Skarner, Nocturne, Tryndamere, and Kog’Maw. Shyvana and Skarner were contenders in last year’s VGU poll, while Tryndamere and Kog’Maw are new additions.

Riot previously released a poll in 2021 to determine which champion needed a rework, with Udyr coming out as the winner. The update for Udyr will soon be live, as announced by Riot developers. However, Shyvana and Skarner were closely tied for second place in that poll.

Quinn has been removed from the poll, making way for Kog’Maw and Tryndamere. While Quinn has not yet received a VGU, Riot may have prioritized updating other champions that are considered more outdated in terms of visuals and gameplay. Kog’Maw and Tryndamere were released earlier than Quinn and are in greater need of updates.

As time goes on, more champions in League of Legends will require updates. Older champions may have unique abilities and designs, but they can’t compare to the newer champions that have been released. Riot, however, seems hesitant to increase the frequency of VGUs in the future.

How to Vote for the Champion Update

Fans of the game can vote for the champion they want to see reworked directly in the League of Legends client. However, it’s important to choose wisely because votes cannot be changed after submission, as stated by Riot.
