Riot imposes suspensions and fines on former DFM LoL coaches and organization following harassment investigations

DetonatioN FocusMe faces consequences after internal harassment scandal

DetonatioN FocusMe, the top League of Legends team in Japan, has recently faced controversy and official investigations by Riot Games following claims of internal harassment. After a month-long investigation, Riot and the League Japanese League (LJL) have released their findings and rulings regarding the team’s current and former staff.

Suspensions and fines imposed

As a result of the investigation, former coaches Kyohei “Ceros” Yoshida and Kazuta “Kazu” Suzuki have been suspended for six months. Additionally, CEO Nobuyuki “LGraN” Umezaki is required to complete harassment education training conducted by a third party. The organization itself has been fined 2,000,000 yen for its failure to prevent harassment and is now obligated to implement new and strengthen existing anti-harassment measures.

Harassment violations uncovered

The investigation found two rule violations related to harassment and unethical behavior that had occurred over a significant period of time with the intention of isolating or excluding individuals and affecting their dignity.

DFM takes action and makes changes

Following the investigation, DetonatioN FocusMe immediately fired the coaches involved in the scandal and has committed to new mental health and anti-harassment policies. However, they have also come to an agreement with tol2, one of their players, to terminate his contract and release him from the starting roster.

The team has made roster changes, with Yuta “Yutapon” Sugira role swapping to top lane, Ryo “Milan” Nakamoto joining as the new starting bot laner, and Han “ViviD” Gi-hun returning as the head coach.

DFM’s upcoming match and how to watch

Despite the controversy, DetonatioN FocusMe is set to compete in the grand finals of the LJL Playoffs against Fukuoka HAWKS Gaming. The winner of the series will be crowned champions of the LJL Summer Split and represent the league at Worlds. Fans can watch the final series on the official RiotGamesJP Twitch and LoL Esports JP Youtube streams.
