Riot implements hotfixes for Sona and Soraka

Riot Games Addresses Sona and Soraka in Latest League of Legends Patch

Riot Games took immediate action in Patch 10.4 of League of Legends to deal with the recent prominence of Sona and Soraka in the meta. These traditional enchanter support champions had made their way into the top lane and were causing havoc in solo queue and competitive play. In response, Riot implemented additional changes in a recent hotfix.

Soraka Receives Nerfs

Soraka had an overwhelming 56.74 percent win rate in the previous patch, making her overdue for a nerf. Her healing-intensive kit was proving difficult to counter and she was heavily featured in competitive play. However, the nerfs she received earlier this week have significantly impacted her support capabilities.

To balance this, Riot has made adjustments to Soraka’s Astral Fusion (W) ability, reducing its cooldown from eight to two to six to two seconds and decreasing its mana cost from 50 to 70 to 40 to 60. These changes should increase her laning power in the bot lane and allow her to support her AD carry more effectively. Additionally, Soraka’s health cost reduction when rejuvenated has been increased from 40 to 100 percent to 60 to 100 percent, providing her with additional support in the early levels.

Sona Remains Strong Despite Nerfs

Despite receiving nerfs in the top lane, Sona continues to be a dominant force. She maintained a formidable 57.34 percent win rate in solo queue and was minimally affected by the changes in Patch 10.4.

Riot has chosen to completely diminish Sona’s impact in the top lane by reducing her base AD from 49 to 45, decreasing her AD growth per level from three to two, and lowering her Song of Serenity (E) self haste from 20 percent to 10 to 14 percent. Essentially, Sona’s initial buff in Patch 10.3 has been largely reversed.

Riot Games is actively making adjustments to ensure balance in the game and provide a fair playing field for all players.
