Riot Grants Bilibili Exclusive Broadcasting Rights in China for International Events in a 3-Year Deal

Riot Games and Bilibili Partner for Exclusive Broadcasting Rights in China

Riot Games and Bilibili have reached a massive deal for the League of Legends esports ecosystem. Beginning with Worlds 2020 and continuing through the 2023 Mid-Season Invitational, Bilibili will have exclusive broadcasting rights in China.

Bilibili will livestream and provide video-on-demand content for Chinese fans, exclusively broadcasting Worlds, MSI, and the All-Star Event in China. In addition to this, Riot and Bilibili will collaborate on producing esports documentaries and offline events. The three-year deal is reportedly worth $113 million, according to journalist Rod “Slasher” Breslau.

Partnership With Bilibili Benefits League of Legends in China

Bilibili COO Carly Lee expressed excitement about the strategic partnership, lauding the growth of the esports industry in China. Riot China’s general manager Leo Lin also commended Bilibili’s solid foundation in esports and its potential to contribute to the success of League of Legends in the country.

Upcoming Celebrations and Events

To celebrate League of Legends’ 10th anniversary, Riot and Bilibili will produce an official documentary focusing on LPL teams. This exclusive documentary will highlight the journey of Chinese teams as they strive for the World Championship later this year.

Furthermore, Riot and Bilibili will organize offline esports events during Worlds 2020, allowing fans to experience the excitement of the tournament in person.
