Riot Games Tricks Well-known League Streamers with Personalized In-Client Surveys

Riot Games Pranks League of Legends Streamers for April Fools Day

Riot Games had a busy April Fools Day, pulling pranks on some of the most popular League of Legends streamers through the game’s client. Instead of releasing new skins or game modes, Riot decided to catch these streamers off guard.

Typically, broadcasters are on high alert on April Fools Day, but this prank managed to surprise them all. One example is Michael “imaqtpie” Santana, who received an in-client survey after losing a game where he was autofilled to the support position. His reaction was captured in a YouTube video.

Sometimes, after a game, a pop-up survey appears in the client asking about the player’s satisfaction and experience with the game. Riot decided to have some fun by tweaking the code and injecting humorous questions. This led to Tyler “Tyler1” Steinkamp receiving a survey asking him which of his cats he preferred and why. His response was initially heartwarming but ended with a classic Tyler1 answer. You can watch his reaction in this YouTube video.

Popular streamers Albert “Boxbox” Zheng and Ashkan “TF Blade” Homayouni were also pranked by Riot through the client. Boxbox was shocked when asked about his opinions on a potential Riven rework, while TF Blade simply responded with “Listen buddy…” These harmless jokes resulted in laughter from both the streamers and their Twitch chat. You can find their reactions in this YouTube video.
