Riot Games Offers Incentives for Employees to Quit

If you’ve accidentally accepted that offer from Riot Games or find yourself dissatisfied with your gaming dream job, there’s good news for you. Riot Games is now offering up to $25,000 for employees to leave the company. This initiative, called “Queue Dodge”, allows new hires to quit their Riot job within the first 60 days, no questions asked, and receive 10 percent of their annual salary in return.

Resolve Mismatches Quickly

In the gaming world, queue dodging in League of Legends can result in penalties. However, Riot Games doesn’t want to be stuck with a bad team composition or players who don’t fit their company culture. “Rather than allow mismatches to fester, we want to resolve them quickly,” explained Riot in their announcement. This initiative benefits both the company and the employees.

Offering Incentives to Leave

Riot Games has a reputation as a great place to work, but its unique company culture and high standards don’t work for everyone. In those cases, it makes more sense for the company to offer an incentive for employees to leave rather than keeping dissatisfied workers around. By offering money, employees don’t have to stay for just a paycheck.

Inspired by Other Companies

Riot Games was inspired by other companies, such as Zappos and Amazon, who have offered incentives for employees to quit. Zappos awarded $2,000 to employees who quit back in 2009, while Amazon offers up to $5,000 for disgruntled workers. The goal of these programs is to ensure that only those who truly want to work at the company remain.
