Riot Games Elevates the UK League of Legends Scene through Exciting New Tournament Series

A New Tournament for UK League of Legends Players

A brand new tournament is coming to the United Kingdom for League of Legends players. Forge of Champions is an exciting tournament series that offers a £50,000 prize pool and two spots in the League European Masters for the winning teams. This tournament is sponsored by Riot Games and consists of four qualifying tournaments leading up to a grand final event.

Qualifying Tournaments and Grand Final Event

The qualifying tournaments will have two stages. In the first stage, any team can enter, but only 8 out of 64 teams will move on to the second stage. The second stage will feature 8 teams from the previous UK premiership. The teams will earn tournament points, and the top 8 teams from the four qualifiers will advance to the grand final event.

Riot’s Vision for the UK League Scene

Riot Games’ UK esports head, Mo Fadl, sees this tournament as just the beginning for the UK League scene. Riot Games wants to collaborate with players and the community to continue improving and building something meaningful over time.

Sign-ups and Eligibility

Teams can sign up for the tournament starting on June 5 through the Forge of Champions website. To be eligible, at least three out of five starting roster players must be residents of the UK or Ireland. The semifinals and finals will take place in Barcelona, Spain in September.

Forge of Champions will be produced in collaboration with Spanish tournament organizer, LVP, which also manages the League of Legends Superliga. This tournament is a welcome addition to the UK League region, which has historically been underserved. Riot Games aims to give amateur UK players a boost with the creation of this exciting series.
