Riot Contemplates Buffs to 7 Mid Lane Champions for Patch 8.14

Riot is considering buffs for several champions in League of Legends, including Syndra, Annie, Vel’Koz, Ahri, Cassiopeia, Viktor, and Orianna, according to a post on the official game forums.

The bot lane in League of Legends has received a lot of attention recently due to nerfs in Patch 8.11. These nerfs have opened up opportunities for bruisers, fighters, mages, and other champions to dominate the lane. However, the mid lane has its own issues.

Since Patch 8.9, the mid lane meta has become stagnant due to significant mana changes. If a champion is not one of the few strong picks, they are considered too weak to be effective. Riot plans to address this issue by providing buffs to several mid lane champions.

When multiple champions fall out of the meta, it often indicates larger systematic issues. However, Riot’s decision to buff these champions individually suggests that they believe the champions are weak on their own.

In their forum post, Riot did not specify the exact changes that will be made, only mentioning that they are considering buffs. As Riot further investigates the situation, more champions may be added to the list or some of the current seven may not receive buffs.

Among the champions in consideration, Syndra, Orianna, and Vel’Koz are the most likely candidates for buffs. These champions are currently underperforming compared to other mid laners, according to Champion.gg.

The buffs are scheduled for release in Patch 8.14, which is expected to be in three weeks.
