Riot and Marvel team up to deliver a plethora of comic series each month

Riot Games Collaborates with Marvel to Create Comics for League of Legends

Last week, Riot Games, the developer of League of Legends, announced its partnership with entertainment giant Marvel to produce comics and graphic novels for the game.

Riot’s head of creative development, Greg Street, recently revealed that multiple series will follow the debut of their partnership with the release of “Ashe: Warmother” in December. The plan is to release comics throughout 2019 and into 2020, with the ultimate goal of being able to release multiple series every month.

Developing the Lore and Story of League of Legends

In addition to the partnership with Marvel, Riot aims to use this collaboration to advance the lore of League of Legends. Unlike other competitive games, such as Overwatch and Rainbow Six: Siege, Riot plans to tell an ongoing story through their comics, further evolving the game’s world and characters.

“The first product of our partnership with Marvel is coming in December with ‘Ashe: Warmother’,” says Street. “Ashe will come to terms with her mother’s expectations and embark on a quest that will change Runeterra.”

Riot recently shared previews of the artwork from the debut comic in an article published on their website. One image depicts Ashe having a conversation with her mother, whose name is yet to be revealed.
