Riot aims to balance Akshan’s abilities for League’s ARAM mode

Akshan’s Unique Resurrection Mechanic Causes Concerns in ARAM Mode

The upcoming champion in League of Legends, Akshan, is set to introduce a resurrection mechanic that could have a significant impact on gameplay. However, players have raised concerns about its potential impact in ARAM mode.

In a recent Reddit post, a fan expressed their worries about Akshan’s ability to revive teammates without any cooldown in ARAM. In response, gameplay analyst Ray “RayYonggi” Williams acknowledged the concerns and mentioned that there are plans to make balance changes for the random game mode.

Williams stated, “Good callout, we are planning some mitigating mechanics changes pre-ship I believe for ARAM.”

It remains unclear what specific changes Riot will make to help Akshan adapt to ARAM. However, it is likely that they will address his resurrection ability. Akshan’s Going Rogue (W) passive marks enemies as Scoundrels when they kill an ally champion. When Akshan eliminates a Scoundrel, all teammates killed by that enemy are resurrected at their base. With the different pace and tempo of ARAM compared to Summoner’s Rift, Akshan could provide a huge advantage to the team that has him.

The primary concern raised by fans is that Akshan’s ability to revive his team could potentially prevent a loss by killing a Scoundrel. In the later stages of an ARAM, a single teamfight can determine the outcome of the game. Being able to revive allies provides an extra layer of defense. Additionally, the fan believes that the few seconds saved by Akshan’s revive ability will give his team an advantage in experience and gold.

This wouldn’t be the first time a champion’s kit was balanced specifically for ARAM mode. For example, Ornn’s Living Forge passive, which allows him to purchase non-consumable items anywhere on the map, has a cooldown in the Howling Abyss. Giving Akshan’s Going Rogue a similar cooldown would likely prevent any potential imbalances.

Akshan is scheduled to be released in Patch 11.15 on Wednesday, July 21.

Update July 8, 3:17 pm CT: According to Surrenderat20 moderator Spideraxe, Akshan’s Scoundrel duration, the debuff applied to an enemy who kills one of your allies, will be reduced from 60 seconds to 25 seconds in ARAM.
