Riot Games Planning to Reduce Effectiveness of Stopwatch in League of Legends
Since 2017, Stopwatch has become a game-changer in League of Legends. However, Riot Games is now looking to make some important changes to this item in the game’s upcoming patches.
Stopwatch has been causing frustration for many players, allowing them to dodge damage, survive critical situations, and ultimately disrupt the game. The free invulnerability it provides has made it a popular choice for all champions, leading Riot to believe that it needs to be nerfed or adjusted.
According to Riot’s lead gameplay designer Mark “Scruffy” Yetter, Stopwatch is being used excessively by a wide range of champions in every game, resulting in a lack of diversity among champions and stifling the action and burst. Riot aims to address this issue.
Players have long complained about the many situations where Stopwatch can be utilized. It especially proves to be advantageous in unfavorable matchups, such as when a mage goes against a burst-focused mid laner or jungler.
Riot Games intends to implement changes that will make Stopwatch less of a get-out-of-jail-free card for all champions. The goal is to encourage more unique usage of the item in specific scenarios.
These adjustments by Riot Games are expected to have a significant impact on the gameplay experience of League of Legends players.
