Rift Herald to Temporarily Yield to Early-Game Void Monsters in LoL’s 2024 Season

The Upcoming Ranked Season in League of Legends: The Void Takes Over

In the upcoming ranked season of League of Legends, the spotlight will be on the Void as monsters from another reality invade Summoner’s Rift and bring about a transformation.

Expect the Void’s influence to have a significant impact on your ranked games when the 2024 season starts. One of the biggest Void-based additions will be the introduction of a new jungle camp called “Voidgrubs” that spawns in Baron Nashor’s pit.

Starting at the five-minute mark of each game, three Voidgrubs will spawn inside the Baron pit. They will stay there until they are killed or despawned. These Voidgrubs will replace the first Rift Herald, meaning teams will no longer have two Heralds to fight over. Only six Voidgrubs can be spawned per game, each with its own respawn timer. At the 14-minute mark, the Rift Herald will appear in its usual spot, providing players with a familiar threat.

Voidgrubs differ from the Rift Herald in that they offer players an early-game buff to fight over. Instead of the Eye of the Herald buff, players who defeat Voidgrubs will receive the Hunger of the Void buff. This buff provides a damage-over-time effect that increases damage to structures. The Hunger of the Void buff can be stacked depending on the number of Voidgrubs killed, making it a powerful tool for solo laners looking to enhance their laning phase.

Don’t worry, Rift Herald enthusiasts! The famous early-game objective is not going away. In fact, the Herald is getting a major upgrade in 2024. Players will still be able to summon the Rift Herald to charge into a tower, but they will also have the option to jump onto its back and ride it straight into a turret, dealing even more damage.
