MSI 2021 Rumble Stage: Scenarios for Each Team to Secure a Seed in Knockout Stage
The MSI 2021 rumble stage is about to wrap up, with only one day remaining and two games left for each team. While the top four teams have mostly solidified their positions, there are still chances for upsets and tiebreakers. Let’s take a look at what each team needs to happen on the final day to secure their seed in the knockout stage.
Cloud9
C9’s path to the fourth seed in the knockout stage became more challenging after a loss to Pentanet.GG on day four of the rumble stage. To have a shot at the fourth seed, C9 must win both their games tomorrow against MAD Lions and PSG Talon. Additionally, they need one of these two teams to have an 0-2 record, forcing a tiebreaker for the fourth seed.
DWG KIA
DWG KIA has already qualified for the MSI knockout stage, regardless of the final day’s outcome. However, they can secure the No. 1 seed by defeating RNG and Pentanet in their remaining rumble stage games. If RNG also beats MAD Lions, a tiebreaker will be necessary to determine the top spot in the knockout stage.
MAD Lions
MAD Lions only need to win one of their games or hope for a C9 loss to secure their spot in the knockout stage. With matches against RNG and C9, their road to the top four will be fierce. But if they perform as well as they did against C9 in their previous matchup, securing a win shouldn’t be too difficult. If both MAD Lions and PSG have 1-1 records, a tiebreaker will determine the third and fourth seeds.
Pentanet.GG
Pentanet.GG’s chances of reaching the knockout stage have been eliminated. However, they can play the role of a spoiler in their last two games against PSG Talon and DWG KIA.
PSG Talon
PSG Talon only needs to win one game or witness a C9 loss to avoid being overtaken by C9. They have control over their destiny as they face Pentanet and C9, two teams they have already beaten by a significant scoreline. If they manage to split their games and MAD Lions does the same, a tiebreaker match will be held for the third seed.
Royal Never Give Up
RNG has already secured their spot in the MSI knockout stage. They can secure the No. 1 seed by winning against DWG KIA and MAD Lions, along with an 8-2 overall record and a 2-0 head-to-head record against the LCK champions.
