Reportedly, Trick from SK Gaming is ineligible to play at Worlds 2020

SK Gaming Faces Setback in World Championship Qualification

SK Gaming’s 2020 World Championship dreams have hit a snag as their jungler, Kim “Trick” Gang-yun, will not be eligible to compete in Shanghai due to an oversight by the team and the player, according to a report by ESPN’s Jacob Wolf.

Last month, LEC officials requested copies of players’ passports from all participating teams to facilitate the process of acquiring Chinese visas. However, due to COVID-19 complications, Riot Games is facing challenges in ensuring all Western region players can attend.

Trick’s passport had less than six months left on its term, making him ineligible to apply for a visa to China and join the team in Shanghai if they qualify for the tournament.

In the event that SK Gaming qualifies for Worlds, reports suggest that jungler Marc “Canee” Behrend will be brought in as Trick’s substitute. Canee recently joined SK and previously competed for OP Innogy, a German esports organization, in various leagues.

While Trick will not be able to participate in the 2020 World Championship, he can still take part in the upcoming 2020 LEC Summer Playoffs starting on Friday, Aug. 21.
