Release of Aatrox Changes Expected Next Week

Aatrox Changes Coming to League of Legends: What to Expect

Aatrox, one of the champions in League of Legends, is about to undergo some significant changes. According to Riot’s lead champion designer, Andrei “Meddler” van Roon, these changes will soon be live on the Public Beta Environment (PBE).

The upcoming changes to Aatrox are aimed at balancing the champion and making him more sustainable until a full rework is done in the future.

What Changes to Expect

Meddler outlined the main changes that players can anticipate:

  • Shifting the passive to a windowed one: This means that the passive ability will have a duration where it can grant attack speed/attack damage and revive the character if it is off cooldown. The goal is to provide periods of relative strength and weakness, as Aatrox’s revive passive has caused issues with the champion’s gameplay experience.
  • Removal of percentage health costs: Instead, Aatrox will have a flat health cost for one of his abilities. This change is intended to address the problem of Aatrox being either incredibly powerful or too weak, due to his drain tank pattern and lack of flexibility in item build options.
  • Changing the W heal mechanic: The new healing ability won’t be dependent on Aatrox’s attack damage and won’t vary greatly depending on his health percentage. This change is in line with the adjusted build paths mentioned earlier, and a mechanic that provides a percentage missing heal is likely to be introduced.

These changes are expected to bring Aatrox back into the spotlight, as the champion has fallen off in popularity since his release.
