Reinvigorated Taliyah Rework Makes a Resounding Impact on the League Meta

Riot Games Revives Taliyah in League of Legends Mid Lane

Taliyah, the Stoneweaver, has made a triumphant return to the League of Legends metagame in Season 13, thanks to Riot Games’ recent ‘mid-scope update.’ The rock mage has found her way back to the mid lane, just as the developers had planned.

Since her rework on May 11, Taliyah has seen a significant rise in her win rate, currently sitting at a strong 51 percent across all ranked queues in League. She also boasts a play rate of 7.74 percent.

Following the update, Taliyah has successfully reclaimed her position in the mid lane. In fact, 52.7 percent of Taliyah games now have her in the central Summoner’s Rift role, with an additional 35.2 percent playing in the jungle.

The Vision Behind the Update

August Browning, the lead designer behind the changes, aimed to decrease Taliyah’s burst damage and early roaming potential while providing significant usability improvements. The most notable change is the reintroduction of area of effect damage on her Threaded Volley. This improvement allows her to have better wave clear and hold her ground in lane.

Additionallly, Taliyah now has the ability to remove Worked Ground, enhancing her effectiveness in the laning phase.

Praise from Taliyah Mains

The update has garnered positive feedback from both new players and dedicated Taliyah mains. Unlike other champion communities, Taliyah mains are embracing the changes and returning to the mage in large numbers.

Despite her success in regular play, Taliyah has yet to make an appearance in the highest levels of professional play. However, with the 2022 Mid-Season Invitational underway, it is expected that she will have her time to shine when the summer season begins in early June.

Looking ahead, Patch 12.10 is expected to bring additional changes to Taliyah. Riot Games’ internal data suggests that she may be overpowered in the mid lane while being balanced to slightly weak in the jungle role. As a result, she is likely to receive nerfs in future updates.

Stay tuned for more updates on Taliyah’s journey in the League of Legends metagame.
