Reclaiming the Story: Rekkles’ Reflections on the Past and Aspirations for the Future

Rekkles Opens Up About His Journey with Fnatic

In November 2020, Fnatic shared an emotional video announcing that popular bot laner Martin “Rekkles” Larsson had signed with another team after spending almost six years with Fnatic. He joined G2 Esports, a team with an incredibly promising roster.

However, in 2021, G2’s dream fell apart as they lost in the LEC finals two years in a row. The team’s lack of cohesion, both in and out of the game, was considered a major factor in their downfall. G2 held extensive tryouts to fill several roles, including the bot lane. Less than a year later, Rekkles left G2, unsure of what the future held for him.

Rekkles Returns to Fnatic

After a successful stint in the French ERL and winning the EUM title in 2022, Rekkles returned to Fnatic in the highest league of the EMEA region, the LEC. However, Fnatic struggled to adapt to the new LEC format and were eliminated from the competition after just three weeks. Rekkles opened up about the challenges they faced during the LEC’s first Winter Split in an emotional video on his YouTube channel.

Rekkles revealed that he had learned from his time in G2 and realized the importance of speaking up. He shared his contract situation in G2, which had a positive impact on him. Opening up to his community allowed him to release negative experiences and move forward.

Fnatic’s Progress in the Spring Split

In the Spring Split, Fnatic made inclusivity and teamwork a priority. Rekkles felt a significant improvement in the team environment compared to the Winter Split, where they struggled with synchronization and cohesion.

While Fnatic experienced some in-game issues, Rekkles believed the overall experience had been positive. The team aims to address any on-field challenges while maintaining the camaraderie they have built in a short amount of time.

Rekkles’ Goals for the Future

Despite the challenges, Fnatic showed growth and progress between the Winter and Spring Split. Rekkles acknowledged that the stage can impact their performance, as they haven’t been able to replicate their success in scrims. He emphasized the importance of confidence and making the first move during matches.

Rekkles expressed his desire to contribute to the team’s success and continue playing at a high level for as long as possible. He believes in his abilities and aims to maximize his potential in the LEC.

Fnatic and Rekkles will return to compete in the LEC Summer Split in June.
