NA LCS Summer Split: Day 2, Week 3 Highlights

Today marked Day 2, Week 3 of the 2016 North American League Championship Series (NA LCS) Summer Split.

From Immortals handing Team EnVyUs their first series loss of the split, to Phoenix1 still not winning a series, here is how Day 2, Week 3 went down.

Immortals Dominate Team EnVyUs in a Close Series

(4-1) Immortals 2-0 Team EnVyUs (4-1)

This match was the one to look forward to for today, and both teams showed up. Game one was a close affair in which Eugene “Pobelter” Park’s 2/1/9 performance on Viktor was a deciding factor in the Immortals victory. Immortals took a 5,000 gold lead and the victory in just under 43 minutes.

Game two was even closer than game one. Immortals had a slight advantage with a 23-22 kill score and 3-2 dragon count. In the final minutes of the 53-minute game, it seemed certain that EnVyUs would force a third game in this series. However, Immortals made a comeback, aced EnVyUs, and took down their nexus. Immortals won with a 2-0 score, but EnVyUs proved their worth.

Counter Logic Gaming Continues to Dominate Echo Fox

(2-3) Counter Logic Gaming 2-0 Echo Fox (1-4)

CLG dominated Echo Fox in a one-sided first game, securing a victory in under 25 minutes. Every objective went in favor of CLG and Echo Fox couldn’t keep up.

In game two, CLG had a similar performance, demolishing Echo Fox in just under 29 minutes. Echo Fox struggled to defend against CLG’s aggressive plays and lost 10 turrets and fell behind in gold. CLG took their second series win of the Summer Split.

Team Liquid Triumphs Over NRG eSports in a Close Series

(3-3) Team Liquid 2-1 NRG eSports (1-4)

In game one, NRG focused on split-pushing with Jax but failed to capitalize on it. Team Liquid took the game easily with Joshua “Dardoch” Hartnett’s Olaf performance leading the way.

Game two became a counter game, with NRG taking advantage of Liquid’s short-range team composition. Liquid played aggressively but lost to NRG’s counterplays.

Despite losing game two, Liquid’s early game was superior to NRG’s. They showcased their team coordination in game three, securing a victory with perfect objective control and tower dives.

Apex Gaming Overpowers Phoenix1

(3-2) Apex Gaming 2-1 Phoenix1 (0-6)

Apex was expected to have an easy win against Phoenix1, but game one was a close match. Phoenix1 pushed every lane to Apex’s inhibitor turrets, but Apex managed to secure the win with a significant gold lead.

In a surprising turn of events, Phoenix1 dominated game two. They countered Apex at every turn and looked like a competitive NA LCS team. Phoenix1 forced a third game in the series with a dominant lead.

Apex showed determination in game three and secured a convincing victory. They dominated in kills, turrets, and dragons, ultimately winning the series.
