Rare Atom shocks FPX, surpassing them in 2022 LPL Spring Split rankings

Rare Atom Dominates FunPlus Phoenix with Two Quick Wins

The 2022 LPL Spring Split witnessed Rare Atom’s impressive performance as they defeated FunPlus Phoenix (FPX) in two games, both under 30 minutes, improving their record to 5-5.

A Battle of Opposite Trajectories

Rare Atom and FPX entered the League of Legends series with the same 4-5 record in the 2022 LPL Spring Split. However, FPX, known for challenging top teams, has been struggling with mistakes around objectives and suffered several losses recently. On the other hand, Rare Atom has gained confidence and team play, coming into the match with a three-game win streak.

Rare Atom’s Dominance in Game One

In game one, both teams started evenly, but FPX took the first tower at the 11-minute mark. The junglers focused on the bot lane, leaving the top side undisturbed. At 16 minutes, Rare Atom turned the tides with a well-timed shockwave, securing the third dragon and taking over the game. With a Baron, Rare Atom pushed into FPX’s base, closing the game in just 28 minutes.

A Strong Start for Rare Atom in Game Two

Rare Atom capitalized on an early advantage in the bot lane, securing kills and their first dragon. FPX attempted to regain control but lost two skirmishes, allowing Rare Atom to gain a significant gold lead. Rare Atom’s top laner pushed deep into FPX’s base, while Rare Atom secured the third dragon. A successful Baron play and an ace led Rare Atom to their second victory, with an 8,000 gold advantage.

Rare Atom’s victory places them ahead of FPX in the 2022 LPL Spring Split standings, with a 5-5 record compared to FPX’s 4-6. FPX faces ThunderTalk Gaming on Feb. 27, where they aim to secure a win and improve their playoff chances. Rare Atom will face Team WE on Feb. 28, continuing their quest for a playoff spot.

As the 2022 LPL Spring Split approaches its conclusion, the competition for the remaining playoff spots intensifies. The regular season concludes on March 20, with the top 10 teams advancing to the playoffs, aiming to be crowned the champions and earn a spot at the Mid-Season Invitational.
