Rakan set for massive updates in League of Legends PBE

Riot Revamps Rakan’s Ultimate in League of Legends

League of Legends fans who love playing as the support champion Rakan will be surprised by the changes he is undergoing on the Public Beta Environment. His engage combos will be significantly different than what players are used to.

One major change is that Rakan will no longer be able to use his W or E abilities during his ultimate. Previously, he would activate his ultimate and then use his Grand Entrance ability to engage. Riot has decided to remove this interaction in order to distribute power elsewhere.

Instead, Rakan will receive a significant boost in movement speed during his ultimate. His base movement speed is increasing from 50 percent to 100 percent, and hitting an enemy champion grants him a 200 percent bonus movement speed. This opens up more possibilities for engaging with multiple enemy champions, as hitting more than one champion will refresh the bonus speed. The ultimate’s duration has also been reduced from four seconds to three.

Blake “Squad5” Smith, a game designer at Riot, is confident in the changes and has seen skeptical Rakan players change their opinion after testing them.

However, initial reactions from fans are mixed. Many believe that Rakan lacks the sustainability to engage without instantly dying to crowd control, leading to claims that he is “dead.” Time will tell if Riot decides to stick with the changes or if they will be reverted in the future.

Stay tuned for more updates on Rakan’s revamped ultimate abilities in League of Legends.
