Rainbow7 shocks LGD Gaming on day 2 of Worlds 2020 with stunning upset win

Rainbow7 Upsets LGD Gaming at League of Legends Worlds 2020

The 2020 League of Legends World Championship has seen its fair share of surprises, and the latest one comes in the form of Brazil’s Rainbow7 beating China’s LGD Gaming. This victory is being hailed as one of the most unexpected upsets so far in the tournament.

Initially, R7’s chances didn’t look promising as they started the Worlds play-in stage with a 0-2 record. Similarly, LGD didn’t have the best start either, losing to PCS’ PSG Talon. Despite this, fans believed that LGD would be able to defeat their struggling Latin American opponent.

However, to their dismay, LGD stumbled once again. Despite having a decent early game and a significant gold lead, they faltered in teamfighting later in the match, ultimately costing them the victory. Some positional errors were made by LGD players, and their jungler Peanut had a lackluster game on Lee Sin, even missing a smite on a dragon while R7’s jungler was absent. These repeated mistakes against supposedly weaker teams are proving to be too costly for LGD.

On the other hand, R7’s individual players stepped up when it mattered the most. Mid laner Aloned had an outstanding performance on Orianna, landing game-changing Shockwaves that led to several teamfight wins for his team.

With this upset win, LGD’s chances of making it to the group stage are dimming, while R7’s hopes are still alive. Next, R7 will face off against Unicorns of Love on Sunday, Sept. 27, to keep their group stage dreams alive.
