Questioning MAD’s Worthiness: Elyoya Shares Opinions on Their Spot at Worlds 2022

MAD Lions Respond to Criticism About Qualifying for Worlds

MAD Lions faced backlash from the League of Legends community after qualifying for Worlds 2022 without winning a single best-of-five series in the 2022 LEC Summer Split playoffs. In a recent interview, MAD’s jungler Elyoya shared his perspective on the topic.

Elyoya agrees with the criticism, acknowledging that their performance in the playoffs was subpar and raises doubts about their deserving a spot at the international tournament.

Elyoya voiced his own concern, stating, “I don’t think we deserve to go to Worlds. I want to achieve it.” He also expressed discomfort with advancing without winning any best-of-five series, emphasizing that it is unfair, even for their own team.

However, Elyoya recognizes that the issue lies with the system and not their fault or the fault of his teammates. He emphasizes their focus on preparing for Worlds 2022 to the best of their abilities, despite the broken system. “What can we do?” he asks.

Despite their losses to Rogue and Fnatic in the playoffs, MAD Lions secured fourth place and secured their spot in Worlds 2022. They will start their journey in the play-in stage, which Elyoya sees as an opportunity to better prepare for the group stage.

Elyoya sees the play-in stage as a useful step for the team, stating, “I think it’s going to be useful for us to go through Play-Ins for sure. We should make it out, obviously, and we should get the best practice we can.”

The excitement of Worlds 2022 starts on Sept. 29, with the final set for Nov. 5.
