Quas announces retirement following Team Liquid’s recent suspension

American Top Laner Retires from League of Legends

One of the top laners in America has announced his retirement from League of Legends just four days after being suspended indefinitely by his team.

Last week, Team Liquid indefinitely suspended Diego “Quas” Ruiz, their star top laner, for undisclosed reasons. This came as a surprise considering Ruiz’s status as one of the best top laners in the League Championship Series (LCS), which is a critical part of Team Liquid’s roster for 2016.

Today, Ruiz announced his retirement from professional League of Legends, citing struggles with depression and anxiety. He stated that he is starting a new chapter in his life and wants to take control of his personal development. Although the process has not been easy and has led to his suspension, Ruiz believes that retiring from gaming will allow him to grow as a person and explore other avenues in life. He plans to go to school and pursue a career in medicine, but will still spend time doing lessons with fans.

Ruiz, originally from Venezuela, moved to Los Angeles in 2013 to continue his gaming career. He quickly became a key part of Team Curse’s lineup and led them to multiple LCS playoff finishes. His departure leaves a hole in Team Liquid’s roster for 2016.

For Team Liquid, Ruiz’s retirement puts them in a difficult position during an offseason that has seen many big transfers in League history. With an influx of talent from Korea and Europe, it will be challenging for Team Liquid to keep up without one of their star players.
