Qualifying for the Playoffs in LEC 2021 Spring Split: Team Requirements

How to Qualify for LEC 2021 Spring Split Playoffs

The LEC 2021 Spring Split playoffs are just around the corner, and teams are fighting hard to secure their spot. On March 14, all 10 teams will play their final game of the regular season, concluding nine weeks of intense competition.

The playoffs will consist of the top six teams in the league. The top four teams will compete in the winners’ bracket, while the fifth and sixth place teams will battle it out in the losers’ bracket.

In the playoffs, the first seed will choose to face either the third or fourth seed in the first round. The loser of that match will then play against the team with the lower seed from the winners’ bracket in the second round. Lastly, the loser with the highest seed from the winners’ bracket will enter the losers’ bracket in the third round.

The winner of the playoffs will not only claim a lion’s share of €200,000 (approximately $237,000) but also secure a spot in the 2021 Mid-Season Invitational, where they will represent Europe in Reykjavík, Iceland.

Now, let’s take a look at what each team needs to do to qualify for the LEC 2021 Spring Split playoffs.

Astralis: Unfortunately, Astralis has already missed out on the playoffs due to their head-to-head record against Schalke 04 and Misfits.

Excel: To secure a playoff spot, Excel, with a 5-10 record, will need to win at least one match this weekend. However, two or three wins may be necessary.

Schalke 04: With a 6-9 record, Schalke 04 must win at least one match this weekend to improve their chances of qualifying. Two or three wins would give them an even better shot.

Fnatic: Although not yet guaranteed, Fnatic just needs to win one match this weekend to secure their playoff spot.

G2 Esports: With an impressive 13-2 record, G2 Esports has already qualified for the playoffs and secured a spot in the winners’ bracket.

MAD Lions: MAD Lions have also qualified for the playoffs and are guaranteed to be seeded in the losers’ bracket due to their head-to-head record.

Misfits Gaming: Similar to Schalke 04, Misfits Gaming will likely need to win at least one match this weekend to have a chance at the playoffs. They will face competition from Schalke 04 and Excel for a potential tiebreaker situation.

Rogue: Rogue’s outstanding 12-3 record has secured them a spot in the winners’ bracket alongside G2 Esports.

SK Gaming: SK Gaming is in a good position in the standings. Winning just one match should be enough to qualify for the playoffs, but two wins would guarantee it.

Team Vitality: With a 4-11 record, Team Vitality is in a tough spot. They will need to win at least two matches this weekend to have a shot at a possible tiebreaker. Even three wins may not be enough for them to qualify.

That wraps up what each team needs to do to qualify for the LEC 2021 Spring Split playoffs. The competition is fierce, and every match counts as teams fight for a chance to become champions.
